What exactly IS a Digital Video Listing? (aka DVL)
Digital Video Listing (DVL) is a high definition video tour of the inside of your home. It’s a lot like professional photography except we take it to the next level. It’s a unique idea, relatable to a virtual tour - but filmed like a movie.
Video production? Oh MAN that must take FOREVER to turn around.
We guarantee a fast turn around time of 3 business days for videos and by 5:00 PM the next business day for photos or else it’s free.
What resolution is the video?
We shoot in Full HD which is 1080p at 30 frames per second for smoother motion. The videos are then edited and rendered to a H.264 compression .mp4 file for loading to the web. Typical file sizes are approximately 200mb in size.
Do you put your own branding in the videos?
Absolutely not. It’s all about you. Maybe someone saw your video and liked it so much that they decided to call you entirely to find out who we are. But you get the call before we do!
Do you do photos?
How long does it take?
Video is uploaded within 3 business days and photos are turned around by 5:00 PM the next business day for photos or else it’s free
Is there an audio component to the video?
Of course! Our standard is varied background music.
Background music is boring. I want narration.
If you want to up the ante, for an additional charge we have professional voice actors who read from a script that you provide.
You want me to write a script for the narration? I don’t know anything about writing scripts.
We can provide you with a very straightforward template. All you have to do is fill in the blanks. But make sure you read it out loud before sending it to us so it doesn’t sound wonky. The voice actor is paid to read your script verbatim.
Professional voice actor? But it’s my video. I wanna do it!
Bear in mind that the intent of this service is to free up your time so you can spend it building other aspects of your business. But you’re right. It’s your video and you can go about it any way you want. However, most REALTORS® are not professional voice actors and run the risk of ending up with a sub par product. That being said, we do provide another service called ‘Introductory video’. It’s a 15 second video of you introducing yourself. It’s a separate product altogether, but once you have it, we include it at the beginning of all your future DVL’s.
Ok so I’ve decided I will provide my own narration. How do we go about doing this?
We can provide you with a script template. If you have your own recording studio, then go ahead and record it and send us the audio clip once you’re done.
Actually, I don’t want to narrate it. But I would like to be there for the filming to give my own introduction.
Sure thing! It’s your video, your business and your branding! We just ask that you come prepared to do your intro in just a few quick takes as filming an introduction could potentially take a long time and we don’t have a long time. We recommend our product known as ‘PERSONAL PROPERTY INTRO/OUTRO’.
I want to give my own introduction for every video!
If that’s what you want, then we recommend a PERSONAL PROPERTY INTRO/OUTRO. It’s an extra service in our catalogue. We help you create a 30-45 sec clip of your dashing self as you introduce the home with a few key points! To wrap up the video, we will also film a second 30-45 second clip as you say your thanks and how people can reach you!

What is photo enhancement?
Sometimes we help market houses that aren’t ‘quite’ ready, but can’t be put on hold any longer. Perhaps there’s landscaping being done in the front yard so there’s no grass. But there WILL be grass soon. So we can photoshop in some grass and supplement for deficiencies with your marketability until the property is up to par.
What is Realtor® Video Introduction?
Maybe it’s your dashing good looks and charming personality that are causing your Real Estate business to thrive. We can amplify your personal branding by creating a 30 second video of you introducing yourself. We then place this introductory video at the beginning of all your videos. So whenever someone watches one of your Digital Video Listings, the first thing they see is you in action. With that, make as many DVL’s as you possibly can and you’ll be a celebrity in no time!
What is a Realtor® Profile Video?
Maybe you have more to say about yourself, your team and your vision for your business that you simply cannot fit into a 30 second time frame. How about 3 to 5 minutes? This is your chance to REALLY showcase to the world everything you want them to know about you. SELL yourself. Sell the way you do things. Explain why buyers and sellers NEED YOU! And use all the facts to back it up. It’s a bigger and more cost intensive treatment. But once you have it, you have it forever! So do it right! We will consult you of course, since we’ve done this many times over.
What’s a Community Profile Video?
The surrounding neighborhood is a big part of why people move somewhere. If you specialize in a particular geographical location in the city, it might not be a bad idea to create a video that showcases the area and why it would be desirable to live there.

Most video production is very expensive. However, we have fine tuned our product to cater to REALTORS®. We understand you have a budget like everyone else. It depends on what you’re looking for but our standard package that most of our clients use on a regular basis is professional high resolution photography (valued at $149) combined with high definition video ($259) in one clean package as a Standard Residential Package for $308 (savings of $100). This price will vary depending on the size of the property.
What is the square footage charge?
Anything over 2000 square feet is an additional $20 per 1000 square feet.
What is your hourly rate?
Our rate for 1 Camera Operator & 1 HD Camera is $220/hour. For larger projects we create proposals for you that include all equipment costs and deliverables.
Why would I want to make a video and put it online in the first place?
80% of home searches start online. We live in the digital age and it’s always good to be prepared. Our clients report that more of their buyers are prequalified because they’ve already seen the property online so they know what it looks like and they are interested.

If you provide access to the property, you don’t even really need to be there. We’ll show up, prep the home (assuming the homeowner followed THE ULTIMATE GUILD TO LISTING PREPARATION beforehand), do the filming, lock up, leave and deliver your content in a timely and professional manner.

This is your business. It’s entirely up to you how you would like to conduct it. You can show up and stay for the whole filming appointment, or you can merely provide access from afar. Just know that no matter what your decision is, we have gone the extra mile to mitigate your risk. All our staff are given a criminal record check and we are fully insured in case ANYTHING were to happen. We always make sure to walk through the house and lock up all doors and windows before we leave. On a more basic level, we are personable, professional and trustworthy individuals and the homeowners are almost always comfortable with us. We’re going into our eighth year of business and our existing clientele have never had any problems with us in this department.

Some of our clients are more demanding than others. There are only so many hours in a day and so we can’t be expected to fix ‘everything’. That being said, we have a great amount of respect for REALTORS® who take their business seriously and who care more about getting the job done right than being afraid to criticize our work.
So you filmed my client’s house. Now what?
Once the filming and editing is complete, we upload the video to our Website & Digital Video Listings youtube page. We notify you when your files are ready for download from your account, and provide you with the URL to link on the MLS or your personal webpage, whichever you like.
Your youtube page? What about mine?
As an extra service we offer to setup a YouTube page for you. In addition to professional photography & videography, we also specialize in graphic design which in of itself is complementary to the branding of your videos. For an additional charge, we can create your own personalized custom youtube page which is intended to reflect your personality and the way you present yourself to the world and to your clients. In this case, we would upload all your DVL’s to your youtube page as well our DigitalVideoListings youtube page. If you currently have an existing YouTube page, simply connect your YouTube account (only once) in the DVL online account and we’ll automatically upload to your page.
What sites can you load the video to?
We can load to any site that supports multimedia. Standard procedure is to upload to our/your YouTube page and our Facebook page. You also have to option to share/post a tour on several social media sites by clicking a social media icon in any of the tour windows.

Online bookingS? I hate computers…-
You can call us anytime to book an appointment. The main purpose of online bookings is to make things easier for YOU. At this point, we have a core clientbase. But our objective is to work with every REALTOR® in the city who takes their marketing seriously. The time will come when we won’t be able to answer the phone every time it rings. But you don’t need to talk to us anyway. You have that handy online booking system! It’s FAR more straightforward than you think it is. But we’re more than happy to come over to your office, sit down with you and show you how it’s done.

By request only, there is a good chance we accommodate weekend appointments. But PLEASE remember our standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
The weather is bad. Can I reschedule my appointment?
If we are not already on the way to the appointment we will do our best to make arrangements to change it. If we are already enroute or at the location we cannot due to scheduling. Time permitting we will retake outside shots if we are in the area again (Photos only).
Alternatively, we do offer an extra service for photo enhancement. At $18.75 per picture we can photoshop in a nice blue sky and greener grass.

We provide you with THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO LISTING PREPERATION, its a checklist to give to your clients. It’s a very straight forward step by step procedure with how the home must be prepared for filming to achieve optimal results. You can use these checklists in your listing presentations as well.

My clients are not prepared (home is not ready for shooting). Can I rebook?
Please contact your property owner the day before the appointment to ensure they have completed the filming checklist and the property is ready to film. If they are not prepared please ontact Leah Dyktstra our Customer Service Manager at 780-263-7463.
It costs Digital Video Listings money every time we attend an appointment that isn’t prepared for filming. We make an effort to accommodate our clients. However, we also need to make sure that we’re covering our own bases. It’s ok if it happens 2 or 3 times, but if it continues, we eventually need to start charging a $150 cancellation fee. That being said, we prefer to work for our money. Instead of charging a cancellation fee, we’d rather you book an appointment for another listing before the end of the week.
What type of Camera do you use?
We use a mix of Nikon and Canon cameras with wide angle lenses to shoot out photos. We shoot in RAW format to capture the best detail. Every picture is looked at and color corrected before we send it out to you.
How exactly do you film the house? You take a video camera and walk through it?
We use several different types of equipment for panning; We use professional tripods with video fluid heads for smooth motion. We also use sliders for a more dynamic filming effect.
We also edit in HD and upload in HD so your videos will look great. Some of our competitors only upload in Standard Definition (SD).
What’s a tripod and how does it work?
The tripod is a 3 legged stand. The camera sits on top of the tripod and pivots in any direction the technician desires.
What’s a slider and how does it work?
The slider is a camera rail. The camera mounts to the top of the slider. With this, the technician is able to slide the camera back and forth during filming to create a slightly more dynamic effect.
